Experiments in Synthetic Animal Patterns

Over the last year or so, I have been experimenting with the concept of synthesizing animal patterns. Using Substance Designer, I have created a reaction diffusion based generator for Substance Painter. These images are the results of experiments with the generator. I like the way the those are ambiguous, lost between weird, familiar and artificial, almost alien. To some of them, I have added some "I don't know what it is but II want to touch it" materials, trying to accent the ambiguity further.
The generator is so much fun to play with, I sank hundreds of hours playing around with it. I will keep posting my experiments here.
